I made more updates to my portfolio, including adding a small selection of portraits.

My favorite pictures from 2009
January 7, 2010

.

I'm a week late, but I made a gallery of ten of my favorite pictures from 2009. Instead of a "best of" gallery, these are pictures that I chose because of a story behind them, or because they're a little different. Click here to view the pictures (link opens in a new window).

Also, I'm nearly finished updating my portfolio. It's a work in progress. You can click here to view it.

Here are a pair of pictures from the Sugar Bowl last Friday.

I will post a portfolio update and my favorite photos from 2009 later this week.

Lil Wayne
December 31, 2009

.
Lil Wayne performs in New Orleans, Monday, Dec. 28, 2009. The performer, whose real name is Dwyane Carter, pleaded guilty in October to a weapons possession charge and will be sentenced Feb. 9. His plea deal calls for a year in jail. (AP)

It's been a busy few weeks; here is a picture from a Lil Wayne concert a few nights ago.

Along with a portfolio update, I will be posting some of my favorite photos from 2009 next week.

Isle de Jean Charles
December 14, 2009

.
Edison Dardar stands near his bottle collection in his backyard on Isle de Jean Charles, La. Holdouts in the hurricane-damaged Indian village refuse to relocate inland, despite frequent floods and disappearing marshland that brings the Gulf of Mexico closer every year. (AP)

Last month I had the chance to work on a very interesting assignment. Click here to read the story and see more pictures.

Also, my portfolio is a little out of date and it will be updated soon.

Shuttered Six Flags
December 11, 2009

.
Overgrown weeds surround an idle roller coaster at the Six Flags New Orleans amusement park, which was heavily damaged by several feet of floodwater after Hurricane Katrina. (Bloomberg)

Four years after Katrina, Six Flags New Orleans looks like it has barely been touched; the sign at the park's entrance still says "closed for storm" in anticipation. A bankruptcy court recently approved a deal for Six Flags to transfer ownership of the property to the City of New Orleans.

Here is a football picture from this past weekend. This one was featured on ESPN's
SportsCenter as the "Freeze Frame" sports picture of the week.

I shoot portraits from time to time. Here are a few samples on a simple
white backdrop from earlier this week.
